In-office whitening lifts several shades in about an hour. Custom take-home trays do the same over one to two weeks, on your schedule. Both use professional-strength gel that store products cannot match, and both are supervised so your gums are protected. Many patients do an in-office session and keep trays for touch-ups.PENDING: confirm the whitening system the practice uses.
What to expect
The visit.
We check that your teeth and gums are healthy first, then record your starting shade. For in-office whitening, your gums are covered, the gel is applied in cycles, and you leave with a visibly brighter smile. For take-home, we take an impression, make trays that fit exactly, and show you how much gel to use. Results show within days.

Sensitivity
Sensitivity and safety.
Some people feel brief zings of sensitivity during or after whitening. It fades within a day or two.We can shorten sessions, use a lower concentration, or recommend a sensitivity toothpaste for the week before. Whitening does not damage enamel when used as directed, and it does not change the color of fillings, crowns or veneers.
Results
How long it lasts.
Results typically last one to three years, depending on coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco.A touch-up with your trays every few months keeps the shade. Keep up with cleanings, since polishing removes new surface stain.

Questions patients ask
Whitening questions
Is professional whitening worth it over strips?Strips work slowly on mild stain and can irritate gums. Professional gel is stronger, applied evenly in trays made for your teeth, and supervised, so the result is faster and more predictable. Will my crowns and fillings whiten? No. Only natural enamel lightens. If you have visible dental work on front teeth, we plan whitening first and then match or replace the work to the new shade. What does whitening cost?In-office and take-home whitening are priced differently and neither is covered by insurance. We quote the cost up front.
