Bring your child by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth. The first visit is short and friendly. We count teeth, check for early decay, show you how to brush a toddler, and let your child get used to the chair, the light and the people. Nothing happens that your child is not ready for. By the second or third visit most kids hop up on their own.Parents are welcome in the room at every age.
Routine care
Cleanings, fluoride and sealants.
Children see us every six months for a cleaning, an exam, fluoride, and X-rays when they are needed.Sealants go on the permanent molars as they arrive, around ages six and twelve, and cut cavities on those teeth dramatically. We also keep an eye on how the jaw and bite are developing and let you know if orthodontics is worth a conversation later.
Fillings and more
When a child has a cavity.
Baby teeth get cavities too, and they matter: they hold space for the permanent teeth and they can hurt.We treat cavities in baby teeth with tooth-colored fillings, using numbing gel first so the injection is barely noticed. Teeth with deep decay may need a small crown. Our dentists explain each step in plain words and go at the pace of the child.
Anxious kids
Nervous children and teens.
Most dental fear comes from a bad early experience. We work hard not to be one.Short visits, tell-show-do, a say in when to pause, and plenty of praise. For children who need more help, sedation can be discussed with the dentist. Teenagers are treated as the near-adults they are, with straight answers about whitening, sports guards and wisdom teeth.
