Full, partial and implant dentures.

A full denture replaces every tooth in the upper or lower jaw. A partial denture fills gaps and clips to the teeth you still have.Implant-supported dentures snap onto two or more implants, which stops the slipping that bothers so many lower-denture wearers. Immediate dentures are placed the same day teeth are removed so you are never without teeth, then relined once the gums heal.Every denture is made for your mouth, your face and the shade you want.
The process

How dentures are made.

Expect four or five short visits over a few weeks. Each one gets the fit and the look a step closer. We take impressions of your gums, record how your jaws meet, and choose tooth shape and shade with you. A wax trial denture lets you see and approve the result before it is finished. At delivery we adjust any pressure points, and we see you again a week or two later for fine-tuning.
Adjusting

Getting used to new dentures.

The first two weeks take patience. Your mouth is learning a new shape.Start with soft foods cut small and chew on both sides at once. Read aloud to get used to speaking. Extra saliva and a little soreness are normal early on and fade quickly. Come back for an adjustment rather than enduring a sore spot; small changes make a big difference.
Care

Relines, repairs and daily care.

Gums change shape over time, so a denture that fit well will eventually feel loose. A reline refits it to your gums; a new denture is usually needed every five to ten years.Clean dentures daily with a denture brush and cleaner, never toothpaste, and soak them overnight. Brush your gums and tongue too. If a denture cracks or a tooth breaks off, do not use household glue; bring it in and we can often repair it the same day.
Where to nextRelated careDentures often follow extractions, and implants can anchor them.

Questions patients ask

Denture questions

How much do dentures cost?It depends on the type and materials, and on whether implants are involved. Most dental plans cover part of a conventional denture. We check your benefits and give you a written estimate before we start. Will people be able to tell? Not with a well-made denture. We shape and shade the teeth to suit your face, and the trial fitting lets you see the result before it is finished. Can I sleep in my dentures?Take them out at night. Your gums need the rest, and soaking the denture keeps it clean and holds its shape.
